Partnerships

To further its Mission, S&R Foundation partners with key nonprofit arts organizations that also encourage young artists and scientists. These organizations – both national and international in scope - currently include:

The Washington Conservatory of Music (Washington, DC)

  • WCM_logo The Washington Conservatory of Music (WCA) is an accredited community music school serving the nation’s capital area since 1984 by providing musical studies with international artist faculty members and a professional concert series. The Conservatory presented a two-year Artist-in-Residence program for an S&R winner and provides other performance opportunities for winners and professional consultation. Washington Conservatory of Music Artistic & Executive Director Kathy Judd serves as a member of the S&R Washington Awards Committee.

Young Concert Artists (New York, NY and Washington, DC)

  • YCA_logo Celebrating its 45th Anniversary this year, Young Concert Artists, Inc. (YCA) is dedicated to discovering and launching the careers of extraordinary, but as yet unknown, young musicians. The organization has brought to the public a wide array of distinctive performers including soprano Dawn Upshaw, pianists Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Emanuel Ax, Murray Perahia and Richard Goode, violinist Pinchas Zukerman, the Tokyo String Quartet and many other illustrious musicians who can be heard on virtually every major concert and opera stage in the world today. YCA artists are chosen through annual International Auditions. Winners receive New York and Washington debuts, management for three or more years, and concert engagements in recitals and with orchestras throughout the US and abroad. This year, YCA is organizing a festival in Tokyo to introduce Japanese audiences to YCA's newest discoveries. The S&R Foundation has contributed funds to encourage these efforts.

Astral Artistic Services (Philadelphia, PA)

  • astral_logo Since its founding in 1991, Astral Artistic Services has played a unique and vital role in the development of the nation’s most gifted young musicians. A Philadelphia-based non-profit organization, Astral serves as a ‘career bridge’ for promising young artists, who often graduate from conservatories superbly trained as musicians but without the business and professional skills needed to face the challenges of establishing a classical music career. Astral provides invaluable mentoring and practical advice, Philadelphia and New York City debuts, collaborations with world-renowned musicians, and auditions for major presenters, managers, and conductors – all at no cost to the artists. Ayano Ninomiya, a young artist on Astral’s roster, was a 2004 S&R Washington Award winner and S&R supported her Philadelphia recital debut on the Astral series.
