2007 S&R Washington Award Winners announced! Violinist Tamaki Kawakubo is the Grand Prize winner. Ms. Kawakubo will receive a $5,000 cash award and a fully-funded recital at a major concert venue. Pianist Reiko Aizawa, Violinist Yura Lee, and Classical Saxophonist Otis Murphy are each recipients of the S&R Washington Award; Mr. Murphy also is the recipient of the S&R Ambassadors Award. S&R Founders Awards were bestowed upon Pianist Koji Attwood and Violinist Saeka Matsuyama. All award winners receive a $5,000 cash prize. Click here for press release.

2006 S&R Washington Award winners announced! Violinists Sayaka Shoji & Shunské Sato are 1st and 2nd Place Grand Prize winners; both will receive $5000 cash prize & fully-funded recitals - Shoji's at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall in New York, and Sato's in Washington. Composer Moto Osada and marimbist Naoko Takada each will receive $5000 cash prizes, as will Special Committee Award winner pianist Naoko Takao. Click here for press release.

Yosuke_kawasaki Violinist Yosuke Kawasaki made his New York recital debut at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall on April 18, 2007. Bernard Holland of The New York Times raved about the 1st place 2004 S&R Washington Award winner: "One can't say enough about Yosuke Kawasaki's energy-filled violin playing and his dead-on, fingertip sense of style." Ayano_Ninomiya 2004 Washington Award winner Ayano Ninomiya performed a violin recital in Washington, DC on Sunday, December 10 at 5 p.m. The event was co-sponsored by the Washington Conservatory of Music.

The S&R Foundation awarded a grant to Young Concert Artists for Young Concert Artists Week in Tokyo, May 6-14, 2006. This week-long festival included six concerts and offered an opportunity for international performance by young artists. The week also included experiences to help develop an understanding and appreciation of Japanese culture.
